,
2820 E M 291 Highway Frontage Rd, Independence, MO 64055

Take 291 North. You can either turn West on Frontage Road (Which is opposite the Hidden Valley Road exit), or West on Gudgell then Left on Hub/Frontage Road (Behind 7-11). You will turn Left at the giant Remnant Church billboard and travel all the way to the end of the road until you reach the two big buildings. As you are driving up, we will be in the building to your right. The roads are one way as you travel around the buildings. Parking is just behind the buildings. Come in the doors that I place our MwM sign in front of. Those will be the only doors I have unlocked.

It will be $7 per family or $30 for a 5 class pass!  Payment will be after class so if some families want to buy a class pass and attend more weekly classes they can do so at a cheaper rate.

You can pass this info on to your families about classes and have them check me out on Facebook @ Music with Mar. Independence w/ Miss Debbie

Dear families,

I'm looking forward to singing and dancing with you and your little ones in March.   Here is a little more info about weekly classes.  Let me know if you have any questions.

What is Music with Mar.?  They are Interactive Music Classes that have been Voted one of the top music programs in the KC area!

Music with Mar. was created in 1993 when Maryann (Mar.) Harman, who began teaching music classes to the parents in her playgroup. The program provides activities for adults and children to participate in together that aid in child development. The program does not ‘teach’ music; but uses music to teach. Songs, written by Miss Mar., teach basic social, motor, language, and cognitive skills and are based on brain research.

In a typical class, you and your child(ren) will sing songs, use rhythm sticks, interact with puppets, pinch bubbles, parade with instruments, hear a story, use sign language, shake the parachute, and move to the music.  Our philosophy is to engage children and involve parents in music activities which are educational and enjoyable.  www.musicwithmar.com

When you come to class you will notice that a number of the songs remain the same each week.   This is in response to the development of the brain.  The brain is pattern seeking and loves repetitive actions and events.  That is why we hear little ones asking for the same book over and over again and why we as adults often continue with bad habits.  It takes really hard work to change a pattern we have set into our lives.  So, we will have a core set of songs at the beginning, middle, and end of music time that will remain fairly similar each week and I will switch up the other songs every 3 weeks.  I will do them in 3 week sessions so that the children will have enough time to really start to learn them and sing them at home.
